In addition, four new members have been added to the board for five-year terms: Frank Bell, Barbara Bing Pliner, Bryan Rand and Dr. Gregory Vaughn.

"These additions to our Board of Directors bring even deeper bench strength in critical areas including investments, marketing and technology," said Alicia Philipp, president of the Community Foundation. "Under John Reid's leadership, and with the expertise represented by the sum of our board members, we are well positioned to continue our mission of boosting our region through philanthropy.”

Reid’s career spans 45 years in service to corporations, governments, nonprofits and start-ups. Reid has served a variety of organizations including 27 years with The Coca-Cola Company as well as positions with the City of Atlanta, the Edison Project (now Edison Learning) and the state of New York. In addition to his service with the Community Foundation, Reid serves on the board of the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education.

Barbara Bing Pliner launched Brain-Width in 2016 after a 25-plus year career representing prestigious global publishing companies including Conde Nast and Time, Inc. and managing marketing and sales for a wide range of popular media properties. Her experience includes joining Garden & Gun magazine when it was a start-up and leading it to milestone sales and advertising levels.

Bryan Rand is a partner and leads transaction execution at Belstone Capital, where the firm benefits from his $14 billion of finance, structuring and negotiation experience across 28 completed transactions including mergers and acquisitions, equity financing, leveraged buy outs, joint ventures and debt financings. With a strong background in investment and finance, Rand also serves on the Community Foundation’s Investment Committee.

Dr. Gregory Vaughn joined the Global Life Sciences practice of Spencer Stuart, a preeminent executive search and leadership consulting firm, in 2017 after serving Bauerfeind USA as chief executive officer for three years.
