About Us
At Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, we are redefining pediatric medicine throughout the Midwest and beyond.
Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics was founded in 1897, and is one of the country’s leading free-standing independent pediatric medical centers, and the only free-standing children's hospital between St. Louis and Denver, Little Rock and Des Moines. We were the first hospital in Missouri or Kansas to earn the prestigious Magnet designation for excellence in patient care from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. We provide the highest level of comprehensive care from birth to 21 years of age with 317 licensed beds, more than 40 pediatric subspecialty clinics, the only Level IIIc intensive care nursery and the only Level I pediatric trauma center (both the highest level of care available) in a 200-mile radius of Kansas City. In addition to the clinical expertise provided by our nearly 600 pediatric specialists, Children's Mercy also is a leader in educating the pediatricians and nurses of the future, and conducting cutting-edge pediatric medical research to discover the treatments and cures of tomorrow. We are nationally recognized for our innovative, family-centered environment that is focused on the unique needs of hospitalized children and their families.
Children’s Mercy is committed to providing service excellence and efficiency to everyone we serve. A not-for-profit hospital, we provide millions of dollars in uncompensated care each year. We are here for all children.
