The Ulster County Community Foundation officially launched March 2, 2007.
The Foundation administers $700,000 in assets, represented through 13 funds.
The Community Foundation was started to bring the services of a community foundation to Ulster County.
Guided by a local board of community leaders, monies raised for Ulster County will stay in Ulster County. The board’s goals are to grow philanthropy in Ulster County, raise money, establish new endowed funds and make grants to make the quality of life in Ulster County even better.
In order to reduce overhead costs and economically create this new resource, the Ulster County Community Foundation shares administrative staff and back office functions with the Community Foundation of Dutchess County. The Community Foundation of Dutchess County was awarded a $500,000 grant from the Dyson Foundation to support operating costs through June, 2012, and create an unrestricted grantmaking pool for Ulster County nonprofit organizations.
The Ulster County Community Foundation is actively working to raise the $1 for $1 match to build a new pool of grant dollars. To support these efforts and/or start a fund of your own, please call Cynthia. |
