Moraima Gutierrez of Hartford has been named chair of the steering committee for the Latino Endowment Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the community foundation serving the 29-town Greater Hartford region. She succeeds former Latino Endowment Fund steering committee chair Nelly Rojas Schwan who will continue serving as a member of the committee.

Gutierrez previously worked as the station manager for Telemundo, WRDM Hartford/WDMR Springfield where she was responsible for all aspects of managing the station throughout Hartford, New Haven counties as well as Western Mass. Gutierrez also worked for the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission where she served as media and public relations liaison for the Commission. Gutierrez is a graduate from the University of Saint Joseph with a M.S. in Management and a B.S. in Communications/Liberal Arts from Bay Path University.

The Latino Endowment Fund was founded in 2003 by Latino leaders in Greater Hartford to increase philanthropy in their community and to strengthen nonprofits working to improve the quality of life for Latino residents. Members examine issues affecting the Latino community and recommend grants from the fund to address those issues. In May, Alberto Ibargüen, president of the Knight Foundation, announced a $50,000 matching grant to the Latino Endowment Fund. For more information, contact Wanda Correa at 860-548-1888 or or go to
